One of three network users makes a conclusion about the company based on the appearance of its site. Therefore, you shouldn't think of the design as just of a nice bonus or a good picture.

If your site does not sell, it is worth conducting a design audit, because users complain about a bad site in only 1 case out of 26. More frequently, they just go to competitors and do not return.

Good design starts with practicality

UX (User Experience) stands for the experience the user gets from working with the interface of your site.

If the user does not see a direct path to achieve his goal while on the site for the first few seconds, he will simply leave it. The user can be confused by anything: navigation, content, location of elements.

UX design is:

  • user interaction with the interface, which leads to the goal planned by the developer (purchases, logins in, familiarizing with the information, etc.);
  • development of click algorithms and conversions for proper usage of a web resource.

The structure of the finished site should make it as easy as possible for customers to perform targeted actions and resonate with the company's values.

If the design is improvident, it will definitely affect the efficiency of the company, because 88% of users avoid returning to the site they had an unpleasant experience with.

We`ve got a practical site. Now let's take care of beauty!

UI (User Interface) is a graphical implementation of ideas and solutions that were approved at the stage of UX analysis. In other words, it is an interface adapted to the needs of the user.

While UX is a user experience, information architecture and functionality of the site, then UI is a competent design of elements: for example, the location of buttons, the color scheme of the site, a united icons` style, shapes, blocks and more.

UI purposes are:

  • simplification of perception of site`s architecture and its boxes;
  • visual typing of page elements;
  • facilitating the perception of information on the site;
  • achieving the aesthetic appeal of the corporate identity of the site.

What's more important: UX or UI?

When working on the design, first pay attention to UX, and then UI, because before you create original buttons or experiment with fonts, you should develop a convenient and understandable product.

To understand the role of UX and UI in creating a site, you can imagine a brand new smartphone. UX will determine what parts we need (panels, buttons and cameras) and how they will work. But the UI will be responsible for smooth shapes, beautiful materials, a harmonious combination of all the elements that should be in the smartphone: camera, buttons, headphone or charger jacks. And for making your smartphone look like Apple, not Meizu, for example.

UX and UI are a holistic process, the quality results of which attract the audience and are in charge of positive presentation of the company's services.

The result of high-quality UX and UI can be described in three points:

  • simple navigation;
  • emphasized the value of the offer to the user;
  • a clear goal of the conversion during the first visit to the site.
